Puerto Rico is an island not to far from Miami. You can get there by plane or by boat. This island is considered U.S. territory. They have great waters for surfers, and calm, clear waters for families. Puerto Rico is an island with many different activities the whole family can enjoy.

Bioluminescent Mosquito Bay

This south Vieques beach is a typical Caribbean beach during the day, but at night the sky and waters emit a blue glow from the half-plant, half-animal microorganisms that live there. More than 700,000 bioluminescent dinoflagellates live in each gallon of bay water. The visibility that these creatures provide is amazing! It is very peaceful and beautiful at night.

El Morro

El Morro is located on San Juan’s harbor. This is a six-story fortress built between 1539 and 1589. This is a go-to tourist attraction, both for its extensive history and its outstanding view of the Atlantic Ocean. You can also walk though the fortress’ depths, which include a maze of tunnels, barracks and prison cells.

Flamenco Beach

This beach has 1½-mile strip of sand and is the most popular in Culebra. Most say that it is one of the most beautiful beaches in Puerto Rico. This beach is great for snorkelers and families. El Yunque National Rainforest

El Yunque is a great place for those who enjoy nature and hiking. El Yunque has many waterfalls that are safe to swim in. It is the only tropical forest in the U.S. National Forest System. This tropical forest receives more than 100 billion gallons of precipitation annually. The forest has 13 hiking trails that range in difficulty. Many hotels in San Juan offer day trips or excursions to the rainforest.

Castillo de San Cristóbal

Fort San Cristóbal’s 27 acres were built to protect the city of Old San Juan from land attacks. Visitors are always amazed by the majesty and significant history of the site. The shoreline’s views are breathtaking. You can explore the tunnels and view the dungeons.

Palmas del Mar Yacht Club

This is the newest marina in Puerto Rico with slips for yachts up to 175 feet. It has a business center, concierge, Wi Fi, cable TV, pool, Jacuzzi, 24-hour security, restrooms with showers, laundry service and ice. There are in-dock fueling and waste pumps also available along with a fuel dock and a fish cleaning station.
